Based on the principles of comparative linguistics, the authors have traced in this article, the link between Urdu and two major languages of the Sutlej region, Punjabi and Seraiki. The links between several dialects spoken in the region are also studied. These links have been traced through the study of the spelling, pronunciation, script, sound patterns, vocabulary, syntax, store of idioms and proverbs in these languages. The study establishes these languages as members of the same linguistic family.
