Abstract

This article aims to explain the main characteristic of the Shadow Archetype, as defined by C G Jung. It then examines its manifestations in Urdu and World literature, including both fictional and non-fictional works from Eastern and Western literary traditions. It heavily relies on Carl Jung's concept of the Shadow Archetype and Freud's ideas of Thanatos and Eros, discussing how recognizing darkness in literature and life doesn't worsen its existence, contrary to popular belief. Instead, acknowledging the reality of challenges like illness opens paths to healing and personal development. The article also delves into how darkness has always been present in natural and social life, advocating for acceptance of this reality to support ongoing healing and growth processes
